Mad Men Season 5 Premier: Mad Men Betty Inspired Design

I can't believe it's really happening.  Tonight is the
SEASON 5 PREMIER of MAD MEN!
Remember how Don proposed to Megan?
Remember how Joan hooked up with Roger and now she's PREGNANT?
And Betty is moving away from the gorgeous home she once built with Don?
Oh Betty, you are so pretty, yet so sad. Of all the characters, I think I'm most intrigued by Betty.
As the show goes on she gets meaner and meaner. Hopefully something will happened to help soften her.
She's just too pretty to have that frown all day long.

In honor of the new season, here is a
DESIGN BOARD INSPIRED BY BETTY
and her sherbet colored wardrobe:

Don't worry Betty, it'll all be okay.

Stay tuned, tomorrow I will be announcing the winner for the
DESIGN BOARD GIVEAWAY!!!

The long waits between my posts will soon be to an end... hopefully.
I've been working on some exciting stuff and it'll all be worth it soon.
Stay tuned, I have GOOD NEWS COMING this week.

Here's a quick sneak peak:

So excited.

eDesign: Modern Glam Living Room

I was contacted a few weeks back by the fabulous author over at P.S. I Love This
who needed some guidance on her formal living room.  Her home is already amazing.  I mean AMAZING.
I was so honored when she asked me to put together an eDesign board for her
MODERN GLAM LIVING ROOM.

Seriously, I have never met someone with such similar style to mine.  I kept telling my husband we have to be twins separated at birth. I would source an item for her design board, then peruse her blog and see a post about the EXACT product.  It's clients like her that make my job the best in the world!

Here are my favorite shots of her
STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL19th CENTURY HOME:

I am so blessed to even be a small part of this home!

You can read more about the renovation and

The Dark Side of Pinterest

Yesterday a friend and I were discussing all the styles of interiors found on Pinterest.
In her opinion, all the pins were too light and airy.
She wants to see more dark, warm, moody interiors with character

In honor of my friend, here is
THE DARK SIDE OF PINTEREST.

I am still enamored with the off-black look that is happening right now.
Dark is SEXY, no?

White Washed Brick

Every modern space needs a touch of something old.
When I am creating a room from scratch, I try to find a way to add in a
vintage piece of furniture or some architectural materials that add a sense of history to a space.
What could be better than
WHITE WASHED BRICK?

It punches up the ubiquitous white subway tile a bit, don't you think?
The rough brick is the perfect contrast to the sleek lacquered cabinets.

Modern Masculine Chic

I love boys.  I love boys with style.
I love interiors that are clean and tailored with a dabble of boyish ruggedness.
Here is a collection of images I like to deem as
MODERN MASCULINE CHIC.

Most people think of furs as glamorous and feminine but
look how amazing they are when styled more manly. Rarrr...

Oh, uhh.... sorry.  I have masculine chic on my mind and, uh... ya... Ryan's hot.
Ok, back to hot rooms...

Let's here it for the boys!

Get Cozy: Reindeer Hide Rugs

I'm sure you have seen cowhide rugs everywhere these days in modern interior design.
I still love the organic and chic feel they give to a room but when I stumbled across some
REINDEER HIDE RUGS,
my heart skipped a beat.
Maybe it stems from my Nordic heritage, or maybe it's the whole Rudolph thing since
Christmas is a week away, but I can't get enough of these beautiful skins.
Before you call PETA on me, know that the people of Lapland hunt wild
reindeer herds, use the meat as their food source and use their skins for clothing, blankets, rugs, etc.
The reindeer hides I'm posting are the by-products and complete the sustainable recycling process.

Aren't those colors to die for?
The whites, beiges, taupe greys and charcoals would fit PERFECTLY in my living room.  Just sayin'...

If Rudolph isn't you thing but you want to add the same color palette through a fur,
why not try some naturally dark Nordic sheepskins?
Or while you're at it, why not have a reindeer hide in one room a coordinating sheepskin in the next?
Adding either would a be great way to cozy up any space to get us through winter.

Random Beauty: Black + White + Gold

I hopped on my computer today and two thumbnail images on my desktop caught my eye.
I opened each on up and thought "that's weird. These images look really good together..."
Here is a little slice of the
RANDOM BEAUTY.

You know I love me some black + white + gold (a dash of Chanel doesn't hurt either)!

The top image I labeled as "sexy faucet."  Sorry I don't have the source for it.
The bottom photo is from the ever chic The Coveteur

Don't you love random acts of beauty?

Objet D'art: Sculptural Antlers

Using antlers in decorating has received a bad rap in years gone by.  Lately though, I've seen
SCULPTURAL ANTLERS
show up in some extremely chic rooms.

They are perfect for the holidays too!
How adorable would it be to hang delicate ornaments from each point?

The antler in my home is from a hiking trip I took with my dad and brother about 15 years ago.
My dad had kept it in his basement and I was able to dig it up.
Now I need to figure out if I want to leave it plain,
paint it white, or maybe paint it a funky metallic like chrome or antique gold....

If you aren't lucky enough to live in an area where you can search for naturally shed antlers,
no need to worry, check out these picks:

Isn't the antler wreath bananas?  And LUCITE antlers?? I mean... I die.

Shine by S.H.O.

I am always on the look out for pieces of furniture that are clean and classic
but with some unexpected twists. When I stumbled across
  SHINE BY S.H.O.
I feel head over heals.  Take the classic wingback, for example.
The wingback has been around for centuries dating back to the old European estates
(designed to lock in the warmth of a fireplace).  Shine cleaned up the ornamentation, exaggerated
a few sexy curves and BINGO! A modern take on a classic piece:

They did the same with a French settee:

a chaise lounge:

and a Greek Key side table:

A good wallop of white doesn't hurt either!
What do you think?  Do you like putting a twist on a classic piece
or is it a travesty to mess with a good thing?

Sputnik Chandelier

I'm crushing on this
SPUTNIK CHANDELIER
from Z Gallerie. And for only $299??
Who said style had to cost a lot.

It's going in my wish list for my future home office.
 Love.

Classic Bathroom Design

For some reason, I have been day dreaming about tile.
Maybe because I am SOOO over my renter's linoleum that I'm forced to live with.
YACK.  If I was able, I'd remodel with in a
CLASSIC BATHROOM DESIGN
like this:

The husband even said he likes the floor tile!!
Now to figure out a way to install tile temporarily so I can get my deposit back...

Chic Halloween Decor

It's finally here! I LOVE me some Halloween.
In fact, it's my favorite holiday and I start celebrating mid-July.
You think I'm kidding. I'm not.
I did plan to have a weekly Halloween post throughout October but since my life got
uber crazy, here is the most fabulous post with the most
CHIC HALLOWEEN DECOR
I have ever seen.

Best. Holiday. Ever.

Have a haunting weekend!!

{I have collected these images over the years, so I have no idea where I found them.
If you know, drop me a line!}
