The Copper Onion

As I'm preparing to leave my home state, I am looking around and
realizing all the things and places I'm going to miss
(don't even mention the mountains to me... I don't want to think about leaving those yet).

One of my favorite places I have only recently discovered is
in Salt Lake.  I'd describe it as an American take on a Parisian Bistro.
If you have multiple food allergies like I do, they are more than accommodating, too.
I took what may have been my last brunch there this weekend,
which was great timing as they just wrapped up a little interior face lift.

(please excuse the Instagram pics. I'm NOT a photographer...)

The lighting was PHENOMENAL.
I mean, I didn't shut up about it the entire time we were there.
It was CRAZY good lighting.

Next time you're in SLC, I highly recommend dropping by and ordering yourself some Huevos Rancheros.
They are life changing. Literally.

Here are some sources to get the Copper Onion look in your home:

(sources listed clockwise from left)

1. Thonet Era Chair via DWR
3. Barn Light Radial Wave Flute Pendant via Barn Lighting Electric
4. Orbit Wall Sconce Clear via Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co.
5. Franklin Wall Sconce via Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co.
6. Solomon Dining Table via Pottery Barn

Shades of Aqua

I'm not sure what's going on with me
but I'm obsessed with pairing abstract paintings with lamps.
Here's another couplette in
SHADES OF AQUA.

In the words of the ever wise Brick Tamland,
"I LOVE LAMP."

I understand Brick. I understand.
(and can you believe they are made from recycled glass?)

Wishing everyone a
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

I hope everyone has a day filled with
love, appreciation, and beauty!

Brass Lighting Love: Fort Knox Pendant

I adore globe pendants and have used plain glass in several interior design projects.
Lately I've had my eye on pendants that are a little more edgy and glam.
My latest crush is on the
FORT KNOX PENDANT.
It's a bit retro, a bit uber modern, and drenched in chic ambiance.

How gorg would these be in a cluster in an all-white kitchen with coordinating brass hardware?
These aren't helping my current brass addiction but maybe that's not a bad thing?

Perfect Pair: Black & White Layered Art + Modern Chandelier

You know I love me some
BLACK AND WHITE LAYERED ART
WITH A MODERN CHANDELIER.

Now to figure out how to create that etch-a-sketch look-a-like art...

Baxter Urban Electrical Company

Is it wrong I find this exterior light from Urban Electric Company to be one of the most beautiful objects I've ever seen?

From the polished white finish with blue trim to the Edison style bulb, it's basically amazing
(as it should be for $3K+!!!).

The Baxter light... so hot.

Hick Pendant by Thomas O'Brien

Besides my new iPhone, there's a new obsession in my life- the
HICK PENDANT
by the fabulous Thomas O'Brien.

The Hick Pendant is the perfect mix of modern and vintage, warm and cool tones, sleek and antiqued, etc.  Can't decide to go with the gold tones that are coming more and more popular or stick with the oil rubbed bronze that has been all over the place for the past few years? This pendant is for you!  Are you in need of more white and silver tones for your room? Don't worry, it comes in polished nickel, too.

The Hick Pendant isn't just for the kitchen, either.  Look how fab it looks in the bedroom:

in the living room:

even in the entryway:

Here are some more samplings of rooms with this gorgeous light  fixture:

This little beauty comes in 4 different finishes and 3 sizes.  I bet you could find one to fit every room of your home!

Design Crush: Ron Marvin

This home made my jaw drop. I am a HUGE contrast nut and I have not seen a designer master the art of contrast quite like Ron Marvin did for this home.  From the layered art and accessories to the mix of traditional and modern pieces, Mr. Marvin's work is perfection.

Do you think this room was inspired by the moody Ralph Lauren bedroom, as seen in this post?

Le Corbusier's Pony Chaise could possibly by the sexiest chair that has ever existed. Grrr....

You too can achieve this chic and masculine look.  Mr. Marvin used more budget-friendly sources like Restoration Hardware and Ralph Lauren Home.  Check out my best picks to get add a little contrast to your home...

Perfect Pair: Grey + White

Still obsessed with grey. Obsessed. Clean white, too. And the combination? Perfection.

This last one is for you traditionalists out there.  Doesn't this look like a Parisian apartment?  Stunning.

Meurice by Jonathan Adler

I Love Lamp. Well, chandelier, that is.  Jonathan Adler's Meurice fixture is a modernist's dream.  So sleek, so chic, so perfect.  I want one in every color.

And of course I'd pair the nickel versions with Jonathan's Meurice Butler Table in nickel.

Sigh... a girl can dream, right?
