Canyon Crest: Nursery Suite

Hello Loverlies! I'm hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! I'll be posting pics of my explorations of Downtown Columbus I took over the weekend, but first,

we need to get through a few more reveals. Today's reveal is on the

CANYON CREST NURSERY SUITE.

This precious baby was my client's first girl so the client had two request:

PINK AND PURPLE.

These colors can be tricky to work with, as they can get too 'little girl' real fast.

There is definitely a fine line between chic and saccharine.

Our first jumping off point was the amazing Anna French wallpaper from Thibaut.

The pretty calla lily print on a light purple irridescent background is jaw dropping in person.

I paired this paper with Benjamin Moore's Pink Cloud paint and we had
the perfect background for this little princess's room.

A fluffy flokati rug and relaxed roman shades in a contemporary fabric help

keep this room youthful but not too childish.

We had a limited budget in the en suite bathroom so we used some budget-friendly tricks.

We swapped out the Tuscan rustic mirror for a chunky white framed mirror from TJ Maxx and

splurged on pink rose knobs from Anthropologie.

Cowhide Rugs: Not Just for the Country

Maybe it is still that little bit of Texas I can't get out of my blood but lately I've been loving anything and everything cowhide. Since the first half of the 20th century, cowhide rugs have been a classic element for any chic home. With the variety of colors and finishes available on the market, most everyone can find a hide to fit their style.

I think hair-on-hide rugs are the perfect solution when you have a small space or a large beautiful solid surface floor which need a little warming up but you don't want to cover too much real estate. Use them in a grand master bath, at the corner of a king size bed, or to ground a little seating vignette.

If a rug shaped like the animal it use to be isn't your thing but you still want to add a little hair-on-hide in your home, try upholstering a vintage piece in cowhide:

Royal Wedding Inspitation

I never really understood the hype that surrounded Princess Di's wedding to Prince Charles. They are royals and they got married. No big deal. I have to confess that I am a little excited about this week's nuptials, though. And what better way to celebrate than with some Union Jack pride?

Here's to the new royal couple! Cheer-io!

Design Crush: Ron Marvin

This home made my jaw drop. I am a HUGE contrast nut and I have not seen a designer master the art of contrast quite like Ron Marvin did for this home. From the layered art and accessories to the mix of traditional and modern pieces, Mr. Marvin's work is perfection.
