I'm desperately awaiting the upcoming release of

LOUIS VUITTON/MARC JACOBS:

IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE MUSEE DES ARTS DECORATIFS, PARIS.

Holy banana pancakes, Batman!!!

Not only is the cover phenomenal, but the book covers the work of both

Louis V and Marc Jacobs, though their work is separated by about 100 years.

Is it March 6th yet? 'Cause... this needs to be on my coffee table NOW.

Happy September!

Now, more than ever, I am dreaming of slightly cooler temperatures

and keeping an eye on those mountain leaves, hoping for a glimmer of autumn...

Look for Less: X-Bench

There are a handful of pieces that will never date. Chesterfield sofas, starburst mirrors, trestle tables are a few examples. One of my absolute favorites is the X-bench (remember when I used one in this Louis Vuitton inspired room?). Whether your style is contemporary, traditional, country, or something in between, I bet you could find a place for this design staple.

As much as I complain about being stuck in Utah, I sure do love Southern Utah. Wish it would warm up a wee bit more so I could plan a day trip to Moab or Zions with the hubbie...

...and of course we'd drive a vintage Mercedes loaded with Gucci and Louis V luggage. Is there any other way to take a road trip?

Louis Vuitton Cruise 2011

Just when I thought Louis Vuitton couldn't get any better than their Fall 2010 line (remember yesterday's post? Or this post?), they go and out-do themselves yet again. And better yet, I just found out there's a good chance I'll be taking a cruise South of the border this February, so I can use these editorial images as inspiration for my wardrobe!

I already bought some wide-legged high waisted Tory Burch jeans, so I'm half-way to this look. Now to find a floppy straw hat...

(Sorry it's not more Christmas-y. I've just never been out of the US before so I'm giddy with the thought of getting away!)

Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 Editorial

How I wish I had an elegant upscale holiday party to attend, even just for an excuse to get dressed up. In a perfect world, I would wear one of Louis Vuitton's 50's inspired dresses from their Fall 2010 line (remember this post?). So timeless. So elegant.

Can This Be Made Into A Room? Michael Kors Mens Fall 2010

This one is for the boys. The first time I saw this look from Michael Kors, I thought to myself, "Rarrrr... now THAT'S a man!" I like a man with a little ruggedness to him. Maybe it's because I come from a family of hunters, fishers, and campers and I myself was once a white water guide on the Salmon River (I like to granola it up with the best of them, but always with a little glam).

The color palette of this room is all about earth tones. If the color could be in a camo print, it fits in this room. And don't forget the leather. Lots and lots of leather (is there anything more manly, really?). The sofa (Restoration Hardware) is upholstered in a waxed top-grain leather which will only get more crackled and worn-looking with age (this is called 'patina' and believe me, it's GORGEOUS). The leather trunk, to be used as a cocktail table alternative, is vintage Louis Vuitton, circa 1920 (1st Dibs, I don't even want to know how much this costs). Behind the leather sofa, instead of a standard console table, I would place a desk, like this French campaign desk (William-Sonoma Home), fill it full of leather bound books and cool industrial accessories, and add a carmel-colored leather desk chair (all Restoration Hardware).

Flanking the sofa, I would place a pair of moss-green wingbacks (William-Sonoma Home) and dress any windows with chocolate velvet panels (Restoration Hardware) to add a little bit of a stodgy men's club feel. For a bit of whimsy, I would add some moose antlers and a mariner's floor lamp (Restoration Hardware). A large 9x13 (Surya) grounds the grouping and ties all the earth tones together.

Mad for Plaid

I crave plaid this time of year, especially if it's wool, beautifully draped, and in autumnal colors. What is more fitting than to wrap up in some plaid and celebrate the turn of the season? It's one of the good things in life. Enjoy!
