Grey & Peach: Happy Pinning Accident

Have you Pinners out there ever noticed sometimes your pins
look absolutely amazing together?  It has happened a few times to me, actually.
I'll just be pinning unrelated pieces and when I review my pin history I think
"holy crap, those look good together!"  I created a board from my latest "AHA" moment.

We all know I'm a fan of gold and grey but I would never have thought to add some
golden peach tones into the mix, if it weren't for this
GREY & PEACH
happy accident.

I die over the pair of abstract paintings.  The layering of different mediums
(oil, pencil, pieces of checks and invoices, etc.) is stunning:

So pretty and feminine with a little edge. Perfection.

And those chairs??  BANANAS. They remind me of the
Milo Baughman's classic lounge chair but updated with a sleeker more slender frame.

The Copper Onion

As I'm preparing to leave my home state, I am looking around and
realizing all the things and places I'm going to miss
(don't even mention the mountains to me... I don't want to think about leaving those yet).

One of my favorite places I have only recently discovered is
in Salt Lake.  I'd describe it as an American take on a Parisian Bistro.
If you have multiple food allergies like I do, they are more than accommodating, too.
I took what may have been my last brunch there this weekend,
which was great timing as they just wrapped up a little interior face lift.

(please excuse the Instagram pics. I'm NOT a photographer...)

The lighting was PHENOMENAL.
I mean, I didn't shut up about it the entire time we were there.
It was CRAZY good lighting.

Next time you're in SLC, I highly recommend dropping by and ordering yourself some Huevos Rancheros.
They are life changing. Literally.

Here are some sources to get the Copper Onion look in your home:

I Married Adventure Osa Inspired Design

After several attempts, I finally won
"I MARRIED ADVENTURE" BY OSA JOHNSON
on eBay!  I have been pining after this vintage zebra covered classic
but haven't ever loved it enough to pay the $100-150 price tag.
I snagged this baby up for a mere $27!

I Married Adventure by Osa Johnson Zebra Cover

Here's my tip on how to snag yours for steal:
look for listings with the original dust jacket.
The seller I purchased mine from only posted images with the blue cover:

Dust Jacket Dust Cover I Married Adventure Blue Vintage Book

which, let's be honest, is not that cute. I realized a lot of bidders over-looked this listing
because the gorgeous zebra print cover wasn't catching their eye, so they didn't bid.
The original cover is probably in better condition if the dust jacket is present, too.
That's a win/win in my book!

Here's how others have styled their "I Married Adventure:"

The antiqued zebra print is making me dream of using a lil' zebra hide elsewhere in my home:

Greek Key Inspired Style

I have a confession. I'm a design dork.
When I'm down and need a little pick-me-up, sometimes I'll create
DESIGN BOARDS.
When I do this I like to use furniture that I will most likely never be
able to work with because of the price tag.

Here is one of those boards I created with a mix of designer vintage pieces in an achromatic palette.
I know gray has been around for awhile but I'm still enamored with this fabulous neutral.

Marble Infinity Sink Design Board

Nothing is more timeless than Carrara marble. If it was good enough for
Michelangelo to sculpt the David out of,
it's good enough for our modern homes, right?

Here is a classic bathroom designed around the
CARRARA MARBLE INFINITY SINK.

Halston + Florals

Being stuck behind a desk all day is not fun when the weather outside is so gorgeous.
I am daydreaming of pairing
HALSTON GOWNS WITH FLORALS.

What do you think? Match made in heaven?

Made By Girl Contributor Post: Mad Men Mint + Gold

In case you haven't noticed, I'm slightly obsessed with Mad Men.
This installment is about Don Draper's new

front door. Rarr....

Love It Leave It: Asymmetrical Furniture

I have started to notice a new design detail showing up in pieces that catch my eye.
As a designer I like the lines of the pieces I work with to be tailored, purposeful and polished.
Who says the lines have to be perfect though?
Adding in a funky unexpected element to a piece gives a fresh new take on classic silhouettes.

What do you think?

Mad Men Season 5 Premier: Mad Men Betty Inspired Design

I can't believe it's really happening.  Tonight is the
SEASON 5 PREMIER of MAD MEN!
Remember how Don proposed to Megan?
Remember how Joan hooked up with Roger and now she's PREGNANT?
And Betty is moving away from the gorgeous home she once built with Don?
Oh Betty, you are so pretty, yet so sad. Of all the characters, I think I'm most intrigued by Betty.
As the show goes on she gets meaner and meaner. Hopefully something will happened to help soften her.
She's just too pretty to have that frown all day long.

In honor of the new season, here is a
DESIGN BOARD INSPIRED BY BETTY
and her sherbet colored wardrobe:

Don't worry Betty, it'll all be okay.

Stay tuned, tomorrow I will be announcing the winner for the
DESIGN BOARD GIVEAWAY!!!

Modern Art Vignette

Sometimes I see an item that inspires me to design a vignette for no reason at all.
When I say 'inspire' I mean I won't be able to get that item off my mind
until I find objects to coordinate with it. I think I may have a design addiction... is that a bad thing?

Here is my latest flash design for a
MODERN ART VIGNETTE.

I love the tension between the modern lines of the art and fixtures against the
natural lines of the peonies.
That may be a combo I'll have to research further...

What do you think? Does this vignette work for you?

Men's Leather Driving Gloves

I hope you all had a fabulous Valentine's day!
I was soooo excited to give my husband his gift as I ordered
LEATHER DRIVING GLOVES
from Italy but sadly, they're stuck somewhere in Kentucky.

I still tried to keep his gift a secret but as soon as Valentine's morning came, I had the urge to shout
"I GOT YOU THE DRIVING GLOVES, LIKE RYAN GOSLING IN DRIVE!"
Maybe I'm more excited for him to have these gloves than he is to receive them?

My husband may have a bromance crush on Ryan.
He's been styling his hair like Ryan, wearing slim suits like Ryan,
and has been pining for gloves like Ryan.
I'm more than ok with this. Ryan's hot.

Here are some more leather driving glove inspiration shots:

Love the man bag in this last image.  Who knows, maybe one day my husband will receive this:

Shh... that's just between me and you.
